Hello, I am Emma and I am the founder and owner of The Azalea Room.
I qualified in Anatomy, Physiology and Body Massage in 2003 and I began
my theraputic career working as a massage therapist in a skincare centre
in South West London.
It was later in life that I learned a lot more about how important it is to care
for our bodies in a holistic manner and became really passionate about
massage therapy as a healing tool. This was due to first hand experience of
being diagnosed with, and learning to live with a chronic illness myself.
In 2005 I became a secondary school teacher and had a very successful career spanning over 10 years. I worked incredibly long hours and my stress levels were high. I constantly had colds and viruses and did not take time to eat and rest properly. Subsequently I became very unwell and was eventually diagnosed with an autoimmune condition and Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. I firmly believe that stress and a lack of self-care caused my illness and have spent the past 10 years learning as much as I can about ways in which I can heal myself.
I found myself becoming passionate about helping people understand the importance of taking time to rest and relax, both physically and mentally. I left the teaching profession and turned back to studying holistic therapies and gained further qualifications. I had been doing massage treatments for friends and family on and off over the years, but decided to officially set up the Azalea Room in 2018. It was the perfect way to help others to take the very best care of themselves, along with being able to work from home and manage my own health.
I am delighted to say that I now have a wonderful regular client base and am healthier than I have ever been! I am continuously training in new therapies so I can offer my clients even more care. I look forward to hearing from you and helping you in your journey to a healthier, happier life.
